TIADA Dealer Academy

No one knows the industry like TIADA. We offer various seminars throughout the year meant to keep you up to date on the latest compliance issues, regulatory changes and best practices. The association’s professional development program is called the TIADA Dealer Academy, and our current offerings can be found below. You may also view the Education Schedule to see our complete list of offerings by date and location.

Dealer 101: Nobody Told Me That!

As veteran dealers know, the used car business is one of the most highly regulated industries in the state. TIADA believes new dealers need to be aware of the many compliance requirements they will be facing BEFORE they open their doors to the public. This class is designed for those dealers new to the business, those considering opening their own dealership, new employees, family members or anyone else needing a refresher on the basics. It covers everything you need to know to run a clean, compliant used car dealership in Texas. Learn how to stay on the right side of the law with tried and true business practices and principles. Check the Education Schedule for specific dates and locations.

Keeping Your Dealership Legal & Compliant

This class is the 2012 version of attorney Michael W. Dunagans's ongoing quarterly compliance seminar.  If you did not attend Mr. Dunagan's 2011 session "Serious Compliance Issues You Can't Afford to Ignore," then you should make plans to attend "Keeping Your Dealership Legal & Compliant." This is the practical side of compliance from the association that understands you have a business to run - and you want to run it right. Check the Education Schedule for specific dates and locations.

Solving the BHPH Puzzle
Repossessions: What You Need to Know

These two half-day seminars are available individually or together as a two-for-one BHPH Special. Check the Education Schedule for specific dates and locations.

Solving the BHPH Puzzle will provide BHPH dealers with the key drivers to success for improving collection results.  The seminar will also demonstrate how effective deal structure and underwriting are the puzzle pieces that make it all fit together.

Repossessions: What You Need to Know is a new offering dedicated to repossession issues that face buy-here, pay-here dealers today. This seminar is presented by attorney Michael W. Dunagan, TIADA general counsel and author of “Texas Automobile Repossession: A Lien Holder’s Legal Guide.”

TIADA Annual Conference & Expo

Our Annual Conference is the comprehensive answer to dealer education in Texas. This event includes a full day of breakout sessions, two keynote presenters and the always-popular Dealer Roundtables, where attendees have found some of the most valuable education in the give-and take with their fellow dealers.

NIADA's Certified Master Dealer

TIADA members are eligible to participate in the Certified Master Dealer program offered by the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association. This program has become the core of NIADA’s used motor vehicle dealer training program. Upon completion of this program, participants can look forward to using new knowledge that will sharpen their business skills and to receiving increased respect from business associates, customers and peers. Each of these topics is presented as an instructional module in a very, relaxed interactive learning environment. An assessment is administered at the end of each module to determine the participant’s mastery of the information presented.  A passing score must be obtained in order to receive credit for that module.
Northwood University in Midland, Michigan developed the CMD course in collaboration with NIADA and awards 4 Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) upon successful completion of the course. Check the NIADA website for specific dates and locations.
