  1. Q: How do I become a car dealer in the state of Texas?
    A: You need two licenses in order to become a dealer in Texas: One from The Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) and one from The Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner (OCCC). The MVD issues all dealer licenses and General Distinguishing Number (GDN) in the state (P-number).   2. Q: If I am a new dealer, where can I get training?
    A: TIADA offers educational seminars throughout the year. Contact us or check our web site for upcoming seminars. The Motor Vehicle Division offers many free training seminars throughout the year as well in various places around the state. Call MVD at 1-800-622-8682 for more information or check the Calendar of Events, http://www.txiada.com/calendar.asp.

  3. Q: In joining TIADA, does that automatically make me a member at the Chapter level? At the National level?
    A: In joining TIADA you automatically become a member at the National level (NIADA), but not necessarily at the Chapter level. Currently, San Antonio IADA and Victoria IADA are the only two chapters that have a three tier systems with TIADA, but we can always help you find your nearest local chapter and important chapter meeting information so that you can join.

  4. Q: What does my Member Coupon Book include?
    A: The Member Coupon Book includes discounted coupons for various TIADA vendors. Valued at over $2500, the book includes free buy or sell auction fees, as well as software and warranty company discounts. New Members receive the coupon book as a perk for joining the association. Existing members receive the book each year upon renewing membership.

  5. Q: Can TIADA help me repossess a vehicle in another state?
    A: TIADA has State Skip Contacts in 36 of the 52 states. With our contacts in each of the 36 states, we can put you, as a member of the Association, in contact with the right people to retrieve your vehicle. Don't forget, we can always help you with repossessions in Texas.

  6. Q: What is the maximum interest rate I can charge?
